Shoreline Remediation: Phase 1 HSIA has contracted ShoreLine Design, LLC to construct a stone revetment in front of the existing, deteriorated wood bulkhead on the east side of the community beach (left when facing the water). During initial review of the design by MDE, we were asked to modify the design to preserve the small marshland adjacent to the bulkheaded area. The revised design includes removal of the Phragmites and installation of sand and native Spartina grasses. The bulkhead on that side only will be removed and the ground will slope into the marsh grasses; the slope will be stabilized with additional grasses. The slope will have minimal impact on the lawn area of that point. Work is planned to start immediately after permitting is completed, approximately late June to early July.
