Hillsmere Garden Club

The Hillsmere Garden Club meets the third Wednesday morning of the month, September through April, 12:30pm at the Eastport/Annapolis Neck Library. Meetings are open to the public and membership is open to all who are interested. Dues are $15.00 a year. Our activities center on education and community service. Invited speakers talk on everything from Bayscaping to antique vases. There are hands-on workshops and field trips.

December 2012 Announcement

After December's hustle and bustle and a wonderful lunch at Carrols Creek Restaurant on December 12th, the Hillsmere Garden Club will be meeting again January 16, 2013 at 12:30 pm at the Annapolis Neck Library for our monthly meeting. Our speaker and instructor will be Leigh Gruber, a HGC member and Hillsmere Shores resident. The program is on re-purposing an old earring or necklace that may be broken of just beads found at the bottom of a dresser drawer. We will repair/remake and repurpose necklaces and earrings. Beads to make earrings will also be available for those whose jewelry wardrobe is in perfect condition. You do not need to be a member to participate in this workshop and there is no cost.

A special thank you to Bill Anderson for hanging the community wreaths at the entrance of Hillsmere Shores. Each year Bill does this for the Garden Club and the community.

Hillsmere Garden Club received a special award from Quiet Waters Park on December 12, 2012 at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception held at the Blue Heron Room at the Park, in recognition of the club's volunteer hours since the opening of the Park. The award will be on display at the Annapolis Neck Library. For questions regarding these and future activities, please call Paulette Schwallenberg at 410-268-5975

October 2011 Announcement

The Garden Club invites men and women to the Eastport-Annapolis Neck Library at 12:30 pm for a "cup of tea" and an interesting program related to gardens. You do not have to have a "green thumb" to participate in our monthly meetings. We have arranged to have talented gardeners and historians present programs for us.

The Garden Club is taking a different path on October 19, 2011 by putting aside our gardens and concentrating on our jewelry. We will have a jewelry making workshop at the home of one of the members.

In November the Garden Club will return to the Library for a Holiday Center Piece demonstration and photos of the Dutch Tulip Gardens in Holland. The meeting is open to men and women. Coffee and Tea will be served at 12:30 with the meeting starting at 1 PM

For more information, please contact Katie Berry at 410-263-1937.

-----------------------------------

All are welcome to attend our meetings, even if you are not a Hillsmere resident. For the most part, we meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Eastport/Annapolis Neck Library at 12:30 pm. We have a social/refreshment time, a business meeting and then a program or presentation.

FYI - In case of bad weather, we follow the Anne Arundel County school advisories. With a two hour delay, we will meet at our normal time of 12:30 pm, and when schools close early, we will not meet.
