This coming September, our Garden Club will be celebrating its 37th year of existence in the community.  We are a group that is interested in horticulture and related topics and try to gear our programs/presentations to our members’ interests or seasonal topics.  We also participate in other activities that encourage civic pride in our community at large.  For example, the Club plants and maintains an outside garden at the Library.

Some of our wonderful past projects: A greens workshop produced wreaths which were hung in State Circle and the Hillsmere community.  The Club also did the holiday decorations for the dining room at the Hammond Harwood House.  Some members dressed teddy bears for the Salvation Army and others did care packages for service members overseas.  At the end of the year, we all relax at our annual Christmas luncheon.

All are welcome to attend our meetings, even if you are not a Hillsmere resident.  For the most part, we meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Eastport/Annapolis Neck Library at 12:30 pm.  We have a social/refreshment time, a business meeting and then a program or presentation.

Our September meeting will be on September 17 and the presentation will be interpretative floral displays by our members.  For more information about the Hillsmere Garden Club and its projects, please call Jean Koehler at 410-268-0276.  Come join us — we love new people!

The Hillsmere Garden Club meets the third Wednesday morning of the month, September through April, 12:30pm at the Eastport/Annapolis Neck Library.  Meetings are open to the public and membership is open to all who are interested.  Dues are $15.00 a year.  Our activities center on education and community service.  Invited speakers talk on everything from Bayscaping to antique vases.  There are hands-on workshops and field trips.  Anyone interested in joining can print and complete the membership form below and bring it to one of the meetings.
