Did you know there is a Hillsmere Playgroup? 

We are a group of parents and their infant and preschool children that meet in the community to play and socialize.  We are in our 4^th year with many of our original members now in 1^st grade or kindergarten.  We’re adding new families all of the time.

There are two groups.  The Friday morning group meets at a host house once a week from 10 am to noon.  The afternoon group meets from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.  Hosting is voluntary and there is a different host each week.  It is a time for the adults to have conversations with other parents and the kids get to play with new friends.

Occasionally, we go on field trips.  We have gone to the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, the Riva Fire Station and strawberry picking.  Other events have been arranged such as 2007's summer soccer camp and 2008's summer activities camp.

I’d like to invite any Hillsmere resident with infants to children 5 years old to join us.  This fall, we are expanding our afternoon playgroup to twice a month, starting September 12^th.  It will meet on the 2^nd and 4^th Friday of every month.  This should be more convenient for kids in morning school programs and for working parents.
