Pool Association News
~Tom Trimmer, Pool Association Vice President
HPA held the annual 4th of July
celebration at the pool. There were plenty of gourmet hamburgers and hot dogs.
Many members brought a dish to share. We were entertained by DJ, Chef Homeboy
RD, there were games for the children and plenty of sunshine. The pool is really
hopping this summer.
Currently there are 270 general and charter
memberships, 10 people with vouchers and 2 individual members. Remember there
are several ways to join HPA and enjoy the pool for the remainder of the
summer. Memberships will be prorated for the rest of the season.
As I have reported before, the current lease on
the property where the pool is located expires in June 2011. Meetings between
the HSIA and HPA committees have not been held since May 2009. Therefore, there
has been no progress on securing a new lease. HSIA held their General
membership meeting on July 8th. HPA presented a "status of the pool"
and made a motion which stated, "HPA will continue to operate the pool until a
lease between HSIA and HPA can be effected." The motion passed 50 votes for, 3
against and 2 abstaining. We will continue to provide information about this
important issue to the HPA membership and Hillsmere community through our web
page, the Sea Breeze and direct correspondence if required.
Currently HPA and HSIA are planning a get
together at the pool on July 31st from 3:00 ‑ 7:00 pm. Bring a dish
to share and hot dogs and burgers will be provided. Check our web page and
watch the bulletin board for more details.
Again, the water is cool, the grills are ready
and fun is waiting for you. So, come on out and join the pool!!

Note from HSIA:
The
above information presented by HPA does not correctly describe the pool lease
process. There have been significant communications via email and proposed
leases all through last year. As late as October of 2009, HPA had received and
responded to proposed lease terms. Additional HSIA board meetings (where the
pool lease was discussed) and the creation of the pool survey occurred from
February through June of this year. To indicate that there has been no progress
is a misrepresentation of the facts. Additionally, it should be noted that,
according to the bylaws, the motion passed at the July General Meeting is not
binding on the HSIA board. The membership present, which was nearly all pool
members, was informed of this.
